Love Disc

00 / Project Description

Love Disc is a high jewelry statement ring created to maximize optical brilliance and structural depth. Designed for its timeless luxury paired with brilliant cut central diamond secured by a reinforced four-prong setting. This centerpiece is surrounded by tapered baguette diamonds with tension setting framed by an outer border of smaller round diamonds with bead setting. The entire assembly rests upon a wide, load bearing shank intricately paved with melee round diamonds, beautifully balancing structural support with maximum light reflection.

01 / MOOD EXPLORATION

A philosophy that love is all around and lasts forever, moving just like a circulating disc that play an infinite, rhythmic melody. The design translated the intangible music into physical micro-luxury. The primary design goal was to maximize the optical footprint, creating a visual illusion that made the center stone appear significantly larger and more impactful. By using a tiered, stadium-style halo to mimic soundwaves expanding outward, the design organically extended the borders of the central diamond. The linear, mirror-like reflections of the baguette cuts acted as visual beats against the fiery sparkle of the round diamonds, symbolized eternal love and harmony.

02 / HAND SKETCHING

The initial ideation phase was focused on exploring a wide variety of completely different ideas. A major priority during this process was ensuring that the design did not accidentally duplicate styles that were already common in the jewelry market. Once decided with the style, later phase focused entirely on mapping out the multi-layered elevation of the halo without making the ring look bulky and explored various angles to find the perfect geometric slope. The beneath used the idea of swirling metal work found in gates to make it more refine and lighter with reasonable negative space.

03 / PRECISION BLUEPRINT

Turning the sketches into a real blueprint for the factory required careful measurements and math to make sure the ring's base stayed strong. The hardest part was building the raised sides and the delicate metal patterns underneath the main setting, which needed to support the heavy weight while still looking elegant and light. Every single stone size, measurement was carefully planned out using tension setting diamond tapered baguettes fit tightly next to each other without pushing too hard or cracking. With the add on pave setting melee diamonds on the shank and another tapered baguette bead setting on top, it pairs well with the top structure elevate the luxury brilliance. Perfecting these details multiple adjustments to ensure the ring had a completely solid structure.

04 / GOUACHE RENDERING

To give the manufacturing team a clear and exact picture to follow, detailed paintings were made from several angles, including a very important view from the side. The artwork focused entirely on showing how main diamond shapes bounce light differently from mirror-like tapered baguette diamonds and also look noticeably different from the smaller sparkling diamonds on the outer disc. Gouache rendering is to ensure aesthetically the goal is met. The final drawing is exactly like the original design idea.
