Teong Yan Ni, Ivy From Malaysia Won Design Awards at an International Competition Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, Release: 7 May, 2019. For Immediate Release Ivy Teong, Chief Designer of Juwelen Design was announced as winner for A’ Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Category from the prestigious international award on 1 May 2019 from A’ Design Award and Competition, Italy. The A’ Design Award is not just an award, it is an indicator of quality and perfection in design, the award is recognised worldwide and takes the attention of design orientated companies, professionals and interest groups. Winning the A’ Design Award is a certificate of excellence for designers. Ivy Teong graduated in Pearls and Jewelry Design from Gemological Institute of America and Jewelry Manufacturing locally. Her creativity stems from the beauty of nature allowing the wearer to feel the closeness of Mother Nature. She strongly believes wearing jewellery is an act of expression. She had nominated three designs for the competition with all three being awarded as winners in the 2019 competition. The three designs that won were Silver A’ Design Award for Blue Daisy Multifunctional Earrings, Bronze A’ Design Award for Blue Daisy Multifunctional Ring and Bronze A’ Design Award for Blue Daisy Multifunctional Pendant. Ivy Teong explained “I started designing the Blue Daisy in 2018 taking inspiration from blue daisy flower which the colour is rare, unique and mystic in compare to pink or peach daisies. The full journey to create these innovative pieces took some time as there were challenges pertaining to design research and modifications, choosing the right gems, dealing with expert team and technical considerations”. Orchid from my garden bloomed beautifully. Orchid is commonly grow in our country and I love it in my garden because it is easy to maintain and long lasting. I especially love the intense color of purple and in contrast to white. Started with some sketches of initial idea, I think I am going to play with the colors or shapes.
