What is GIA Certification?
With the advancements in technology, comes a unique but discreet way to mark diamonds. This is done by lightly etching the diamonds with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) report numbers using a very small and precise laser beam. The GIA report numbers are microscopically engraved on the girdle of the diamond allowing buyers to link their GIA report to the physical stone. This gives the diamond a unique sort of ID that can help tell the diamond apart from other diamonds. The GIA laser inscription, invisible to the naked eye provides for more confidence when purchasing a diamond. Something to keep in mind is that a diamond does not lose its value but on the contrary is actually worth more after inscription because it is solid proof of the diamond's quality. Designing a Ring
Ever wonder what you should look out for when deciding on a ring? Here are some key things to keep in mind! Designing a Ring Key Elements 1/2 -Setting- Easily one of the most important element in designing a ring. For rings, a setting is the metal base that holds the gem and other decorative elements crafted into the ring. A setting supports and secures the gem while adding decorative appeal to the ring. There are various styles of setting, among them are Bezel, Prong, Tension, Gypsy (Flush), French, Channel, Pave (Bead) and Wrap. -Precious Metal- Each metal has its own pros and cons in terms of pricing, durability and perceived beauty. The metals such as Yellow Gold, White Gold, Rose Gold, Platinum, Sterling Silver, Titanium and Two Tone. -Band Style- The band is the part of the ring that wraps around the finger. The overall design of the ring relies on the width, style and shape of the band. Some band styles are the classic wide band, the more delicate twisted band, and the graceful split shank. -Lifestyle- Knowing and understanding the lifestyle of the wearer is an important factor. Think about how often the ring will be worn, how active the wearer is and how willing will they be to care for their jewelry. The lifestyle is most important for deciding on the ring setting and the band style. Choosing a Diamond 4/4 : Carat
How heavy your diamond is! A heavier diamond doesn't necessarily mean it's a bigger diamond. The heavier the diamond, the more expensive it is due to its rarity. Choosing a Diamond 2/4 : Color A diamond with the highest quality is one that is colorless and quality diminishes the more the diamond's color is visible with a diamond of the lowest quality being yellowish. Color Grades : Colorless (D - F), Near Colorless (G - J), Faint (K - M), Very Light (N - R), Light (S - Z)Jeweler's Tip!
