What is GIA Certification?

With the advancements in technology, comes a unique but discreet way to mark diamonds. This is done by lightly etching the diamonds with the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) report numbers using a very small and precise laser beam.

The GIA report numbers are microscopically engraved on the girdle of the diamond allowing buyers to link their GIA report to the physical stone. This gives the diamond a unique sort of ID that can help tell the diamond apart from other diamonds.

The GIA laser inscription, invisible to the naked eye provides for more confidence when purchasing a diamond.

Something to keep in mind is that a diamond does not lose its value but on the contrary is actually worth more after inscription because it is solid proof of the diamond's quality.
