A diamond is rapidly heated by the laser and focused to an extremely small spot to make the cut. This Andamooka Opal presents a porous host-rock. This host-rock is composed by a conglomerate of sand and small grains of precious opal. Andamooka was found during 1930s is one of the oldest opal mine in South Australia situated approximately 500km north Adelaide. The word Andamooka is derived from an Aboriginal name, meaning “Large Waterhole”. It has produced some of the most attractive pieces such as “The Andamooka Matrix Opal”, which is also referred as “The Queen’s Opal”.
