Why Do People Choose Japanese Akoya Pearl Necklace? Kokichi Mikimoto is named as “Father Of Pearl”, as he is the pioneer in world whom successfully cultured pearls. He was born 25 January 1858 in Toba town on Japan’s Shima Peninsular. Kokichi Mikimoto is the eldest son and helping his father in his udon shop until the age of 11, his father fell ill. At the age of 13, he left school and sold vegetables to support his family. Day by day he watched divers unloading their pearls from the shore and he started fascinating pearls after that. People loves Japanese Akoya pearl necklace mainly for the luster and shape. Luster means how well is the pearl reflected in the light and good luster is like “mirror-like” reflection. Round shape pearl is always desirable and Japanese Akoya pearl necklace is popular for that. Thanks to Kokichi Mikimoto, continued researched and patented his method in early 1900s for culturing spherical-round pearls. Another factor is overtone. Rose overtone looks lovely on a fair lady, and due to Japanese Akoya Pearls doesn’t produce very large pearl, it has its charm and adore by many people nowadays.
