Garnet is the birthstone for January. The name Garnet comes from the Latin Granatum for pomegranate because the color of this crystal resembles the seeds of the pomegranate fruit. The colors variates from greens, oranges, pinkish oranges, deeply saturated purplish reds, and even some blues. However, the most widely-known color is dark red.
